Asking, Answering, and Asking Back:
Questions with “Be” + Possessive
For questions such as “What is your…?” “Where is his…?” etc., follow this pattern:

Ask
What is your favorite sport?
Answer
My favorite sport is baseball.
Ask back
How about you? What is your favorite sport?

Try to answer questions in a short but complete sentence.
(o) My favorite sport is baseball.
(x) Baseball. (not a complete sentence)

Possessive Pronouns
Use possessive pronouns to show ownership.

SINGULAR
My favorite sport is baseball.
Your shirt is nice.
His favorite food is spaghetti. (Not “He’s”)
Her mom is tall. (Not “She’s”)
Its mountains are big and beautiful.
(Not “It is”)

PLURAL
Our house is big.
Your headphones are cool.
Their shoes are blue. (Not “They are”)
