Hello.
Welcome to Orientation Week.
My name is Stella,
and I'm a 2nd year student here.
I've been assigned to
your group as a guide.
I'll take you around campus.
I hope you're wearing comfortable shoes,
because we'll be moving around a lot.
Hi. I'm Grace.
Hello. I'm Phil.
Nice to meet you.
Feel free to interrupt me
whenever you have any questions.
I'll start by showing you
the student service center
and the bookstore.
You're going to be reading a lot of
case studies in the first semester.
Excuse me, Stella.
What do you mean
by “case studies”?
What I mean is reports
about people or companies
that you have to study and discuss.
Oh, I see.
Could you give us an example?
Hmmm…
Oh!
You'll read a case study
about why Apple changed its name.
That sounds interesting.
Why did they change their name?
Well, Apple changed its name from
“Apple Computers” to “Apple Inc.”
in 2007 to help their image.
I'm sorry,
but I don't quite understand.
Why would the name change help them?
Apple wanted to move away
from their popular Mac computers
and move towards their new
products like the iPod and the iPhone.
Oh! So instead of being
just a computer company,
they changed their name to show
that they are an
electronics company?
Right.
Well, here's student housing.
Do any of you live here?
Yes, I'm moving in tomorrow.
Have you lived on campus
before, Phil?
Yes, I lived in a dormitory
during my undergrad years.
Now, I'll live with three
other people in an apartment
with a shared kitchen and bathroom.
I've never had roommates before.
Oh, is this the library?
Yes. You'll spend more
time here than at home.
Oh, we only have
30 minutes left.
We'd better move it.
